Safeguarding Children in Leicestershire and Rutland

Safeguarding the most vulnerable children in Leicestershire and Rutland has always been a priority for our organisations and all partners. In 2019 we have strengthened our partnership arrangements to safeguard children.

The Leicestershire and Rutland Safeguarding Children Partnership has been established to oversee the new Multi-Agency Safeguarding Children arrangements as required by the government guidance Working Together 2018. These arrangements build on the strong foundation of the Local Safeguarding Children Board that they replace.

Our vision is for children & young people in Leicestershire and Rutland to be safe, well and achieve their full potential.

To work towards this the partnership will oversee organisations working together to safeguard children with a focus on reviewing, learning and improving practice.

The partnership commenced on 29th September 2019. During the first six months the partnership will keep processes and working arrangements under review while it develops some areas of work including engagement with schools and the voluntary sector and streamlining its approach for gaining assurance regarding multi-agency safeguarding.

Publicity and awareness materials that reference the LSCB will remain valid to the end of March 2020, but by then will be replaced by updated partnership versions.

Annual Reports and Serious Case Reviews published by the former LSCB can be accessed here.
